Colleen E. Sari, MD
Dr. Sari completed her undergraduate education at the Georgia Institute
of Technology, followed by study at the University of Texas Graduate
School of Biomedical Sciences. She received her medical degree at
the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, then completed
her psychiatric residency and fellowship in child and adolescent
psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. Throughout her training
she was engaged in biomolecular research.
At the completion of training, Dr. Sari joined a prominent psychoanalytic
group private practice with Aruffo, Cambor and Farley. This was
followed by an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry
and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch
in Galveston, Texas. In 1996, Dr. Sari moved to Pittsburgh to accept
a faculty appointment at Allegheny General Hospital.
Since leaving academia, Dr. Sari has worked in school-based partial
hospital programs, for private mental health groups, a faith-based
organization, the Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute and for a Medicaid
managed care organization. She continues to work with children and
families in private practice with Highland Therapy Associates and
at a community mental health clinic. She also provides direct clinical
care to students at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.
In addition, she serves as a psychiatric school consultant to the
Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
