Karen Miyares, MSW
I am a licensed social worker and gestalt therapist who uses holistic
psychotherapy in my work with individuals, couples and groups. By
integrating the best practices for the mind and emotions with spirituality
I have found that my work creates the possibility for a faster,
more effective way for people to heal and grow.
Among my specialties are: healing losses, enhancing couple's relationships,
healing intergenerational relationships, teaching breath work to
heal and transform trauma and negative beliefs, and changing attitudes
and beliefs. The purpose of my work is to empower people to have
greater love, peace of mind, and joy in their lives.
I have created three training programs that are focused on changing
lives and relationships as well as creating a sense of well-being.
Each of them is filled with powerful information and skills for
loving yourself and others and thereby having a positive impact
on the planet. The courses include skills for caring for yourself,
communicating effectively, changing a stuck relationship, and resolving
conflicts.
Living Love Training teaches practical and effective techniques
for coping with and growing through change, managing crises and
healing losses. Essentially, it empowers you to become your own
therapist. The skills, which encompass the physical, emotional,
mental and spiritual aspects of life, provide the foundation for
self-care and living a fulfilled life.
Resolving Conflicts with People You Love teaches how to
enhance hope and trust in your relationships through learning
the basic skills for resolving conflicts. Proven effective communication
skills and a step-by-step process for creating "win-win"
solutions are presented and practiced. Knowing how to develop
greater understanding and trust through conflict resolution with
loved ones develops the ability to manage conflicts with others,
and that, ultimately, contributes to the creation of greater peace
on earth.
Living in Unity takes participants of the conflict resolution
course to the higher level of learning how to live in mutual support
with loved ones, to more fully accept others, and to function
in unity or oneness. Skills for negotiating agreements, living
cooperatively and com-passionately, and taking personal responsibility
are presented. The life skills of forgiving oneself and others
and of apologizing are taught both as essential components of
loving relationships and of personal happiness and peace.
A helpful resource for many of those who work with me is my book,
Living Love - A Journey of Self Love which can be
used with the Living Love Training or by itself. This is a workbook
filled with exercises to practice and hopefully integrate into your
daily life. It offers information that helps people who are ready
to make changes to be able to live more fulfilling and meaningful
lives. I have learned that loving yourself is the cornerstone from
which loving and caring for others is built, and that, if you are
committed to changing the world, you need to begin by changing yourself.
Rather than happening as a result of constant criticism and self-judgment,
true self change comes only through becoming loving and compassionate
with yourself. Because I believe that, at our core, we are connected
with everyone, I know that what you do for yourself you are also
doing for others.
In my life in general and my work specifically, I am committed
to a vision of peace and oneness on this planet. I believe that
our inner peace contributes to that outer peace. My work is driven
by my passion for people to live lives filled with love, peace and
deep happiness.
