Linda Johnson, RN, LCSW
A Total Living Courageously Approach
Linda Johnson RN, LCSW has been in the healthcare business from
many approaches. She was a Psychiatric nurse at Johns Hopkins for
over 10 years before obtaining her Masters in Social Work at the
University of Pittsburgh. She has worked in the public schools as
a prevention specialist, and a therapist in schools, community,
and hospital settings. A TLC approach involves en-couraging a person
to incorporate a total exploration to identify and solve problems.
Focus of Care
Linda has worked extensively with children, parents, families,
couples and groups. In her private practice she is currently utilizing
her training as a facilitator in Spiritual and Bereavement concerns,
as well as a leader in PAIRS (Practical Application for Intimate
Relationship Skills -couples/relationship educational communication
classes). She is a member of the American Academy of Bereavement,
the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists, and
the National Association of Social Workers.
Linda works with clients to utilize strategies and tools that can
promote understanding and growth. She believes in getting to the
heart of the matter (coeur is Latin for heart). Being able to identify
core feelings, and then explore the thinking patterns underlying
them is essential in creating positive change. Linda believes that
a holistic approach (including the whole person in mind, body, &
soul) to problem solving provides healing. Linda is trained to use
EMDR intervention for trauma/psychological stress (including PTSD:
Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome). Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing
(EMDR) has been researched and noted to have lasting effects in
the healing of stressful memories that can have a negative impact.
Within this EMDR modality there is also an intervention available
to enable the client to make better choices in their behavior.
