Lili Gill is a therapist with distinctive skills. As a massage
practitioner she has learned to connect with people and to listen
with compassion. As a classical pianist she has developed strong
hands that are very sensitive to detail. As an avid gardener she
emanates a calm and grounded personality. All of these gifts come
together to help create a supportive space of healing for her clients.
Lili dedicates time at the beginning of each session to evaluate
her client's needs. After carefully listening to the client, she
uses a variety of techniques (see below) to customize each massage.
In addition, Lili provides an evaluative follow-up with suggestions
for self-care at the end of each treatment.
Lili studied at the Cumberland Institute for Wellness Education
in Nashville, Tennessee. At Cumberland, she received training in
Swedish Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Cayce-Reilly Massage,
Reiki and Acupressure techniques. In the five years since her schooling,
Lili has successfully developed two full-time massage practices.
Two years ago, she learned the art of the Hot Stone Massage through
Sacred Stone Therapy®. This therapy combines warm stones with
ayurvedic techniques of healing to give a profound sense of deep
relaxation and "groundedness". Furthermore, Lili has broadened
her knowledge of working with pregnant women through Elain Stillerman's
Mother Massage® program, which allows Lili to offer women support
throughout this transitional time in their lives. In starting her
new practice in Pittsburgh, one of Lili's aspirations is to continue
to develop her work with expectant mothers.
When not washing massage sheets, Lili devotes time to her other
loves in life: the piano, gardening, cooking and her husband, Michael.
She holds a Master's degree in music and enjoys teaching piano and
accompanying singers and instrumentalists. She is also fluent in
French and Serbo-Croatian.
Hot Stone Massage incorporates warm oceanic and river
stones, which are placed on the body and used by the practitioner
while massaging. The Sacred Stone Technique adds ayurvedic principles
of working with warm oil and chakra points for further grounding
and balancing. This is a fabulous experience when you are feeling
very stressed or scattered and during the cold of winter.
Pregnancy and Post-Partum Massage can greatly benefit
women who are planning to become or already are pregnant. It helps
reduce the physical and emotional stresses commonly experienced
during pregnancy. It will also help women become more accepting
and aware of their bodies and thus better prepare them for labor.
After delivery, massage therapy aids and quickens the natural
recovery process.
Swedish Massage uses slow strokes, light rocking, passive
joint movement and deep tissue work. It is particularly beneficial
for alleviating stress while it improves circulation and oxygen
intake, removes lactic acid and breaks up adhesions in the muscles
and enhances the immune system.
Cayce-Reilly Massage is similar to Swedish, however it
has a more rhythmic, flowing quality that is both relaxing and
rejuvenating. Physiotherapist Harold Reilly developed this technique
in the 1960's based on renowned psychic Edgar Cayce's medical
intuitive readings.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses very gentle, repetitive
movements to help move toxins and excess water out of the body.
It is very effective for sinus problems, swelling, edema, water
retention and migraines.
Reiki is the art of tuning into the universal energy field
through the intention of healing and balancing the mind, body
and spirit.
Acupressure opens the flow of energy along the meridian
pathways of the body. As points are held, blockages are released.
Balancing changes occur on a physical, mental and emotional level.
